The Safety Register is a joint initiative of the City of Monash, South East Volunteers, Mt Waverley and Glen Waverley Police, and aims to assist senior and disabled members of the community to feel safe.
The program is designed to enhance the confidence and safety of Senior Citizens and the disabled by offering friendly contact, assistance, advice and referral. Hopefully it will provide comfort and peace of mind knowing that someone is caring for their wellbeing.
“I think it’s a wonderful service. The phone call really lifts morale…” – Lawrence
It is important that these citizens of the community are reassured that they are not likely to be victims of crime. On occasions, many of these citizens feel vulnerable for various reasons including frailty, isolation, loneliness and ill health. The Safety Register aims to reduce these perceptions.
If you are an elderly or disabled person living in your own home and you want to be in this program, you can Register here or contact SEV on 9562 0414.
On receiving your application to become a member SEV staff will visit you and give you advice on security around the home. After this initial visit, volunteers will keep in touch with you by telephone every 6 weeks.
