South East Volunteers is an incorporated association that is managed by a Chief Executive Officer and governed by a committee. It is supported by a small number of paid staff and dedicated volunteers.
Shirlene Standish – Acting CEO
Our Acting CEO is Shirlene Standish, who has many years of experience in working in the community service sector. Her work background is in Marketing & Sales and she has a Bachelor of Arts in History.
Our board consists of highly respected people from the surrounding areas with experience in a wide range of skills, from financial and legal to business and community service.

Dr. Malak Sukkar – Chair
Malak is the Chief Strategy, Business & Development Officer at Northern Health. She has a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Nursing and a Doctorate in Business Administration.
Malak is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors
Mark Pellas GAICD – Treasurer
Mark has experience in transformational, business outcome focused technology delivering digital solutions to solve organisational and customer challenges. He is also an educator who delivers lectures on topics of digital transformation at Victoria University and Melbourne University to both under and post graduate students.
Mark has a Master of Business Administration in Finance.
Melissa is a Director of Wellbeing Campus with an interest in mental health. She promotes partnerships with corporate stakeholders and community organisations to enhance mental health literacy and wellbeing outcomes in the workplace.
Melissa has a Masters Degree in Social Change and Development and has previous experience as the Outreach Manager of Greater Dandenong Volunteer Resource Service.
Bernadette’s career spans more than 25 years across many different industries, Non-Profit, Corporate and Government. Much of her experience has been in Human Resource, Payroll, Contract and Project Administration managing teams during significant organisational growth and change.
Terry has experience in business management in the retail industry, with a focus on project management. Terry retired in 2010 and became a volunteer driver at South East Volunteers, serving the community of Monash through his volunteering.
Terry has a Bachelor of Business.
