Our board

South East Volunteers is an incorporated association that is managed by a Chief Executive Officer and governed by a committee. It is supported by a small number of paid staff and dedicated volunteers.

Ann Burgess

Our CEO is Ann Burgess, who has many years of experience in managing community organisations, and our committee consists of highly respected people from the surrounding areas with experience in a wide range of skills, from financial and legal to business and community service.

Our committee consists of the following board members:

Simon Beaty – Chair

Simon is the Managing Director of Snooze Australia. He has considerable expertise in Business Governance, Financial Management, Strategic Business Leadership, Relationship Management and Change Management.

Simon is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Dr. Malak Sukkar – Vice Chair

Malak is the Chief Strategy, Business & Development Officer at Northern Health. She has a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Nursing and a Doctorate in Business Administration.

Malak is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors

Mark Pellas GAICD- Treasurer

Mark has experience in transformational, business outcome focused technology delivering digital solutions to solve organisational and customer challenges. He is also an educator who delivers lectures on topics of digital transformation at Victoria University and Melbourne University to both under and post graduate students.

Mark has a Master of Business Administration in Finance.

Gillian Kinder – Secretary

Gillian brings senior management experience in financial and legal matters, including governance, risk and compliance gained from involvement with commercial, State and Local Government and NFP organisations. Gill is an experienced Director and Company Secretary.

Gillian is a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia (formerly Chartered Secretaries Australia) and the Change Management Institute.

Darren Lim

Darren is the Senior Management Accountant at Monash University and has had experience in being a Financial Controller for a Private Investment start up.

Darren is a Certified Practicing Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting & Finance and a Bachelor of Laws.

Melissa Hardy

Melissa is a Director of Wellness Campus with an interest in mental health. She promotes partnerships with corporate stakeholders and community organisations to enhance mental health literacy and wellbeing outcomes in the workplace.

Melissa has a Masters Degree in Social Change and Development and has previous experience as a Volunteering Manager of South East Volunteers.
