Monash Community Safety Register
South East Volunteers offers a free service that connects and supports older people (50 plus), and those with a disability (including those under the age of 50). The service is provided for those who are living in their own homes, or in an independent living unit in a retirement village located in the City of Monash. This service is generously funded by the City of Monash and operates with the support of the Victorian Police in Monash, and involves keeping in regular phone contact.
A regular phone call from a friendly and caring volunteer can assist in making you feel safer and can ensure you are adequately supported during crisis or emergency situations. We have callers who can speak Chinese, Italian, Greek, Arabic and Hindi as well as English.
We maintain a close working relationship with other essential services that can assist you, and we register your important information with the Victoria Police in Monash in case of an emergency. We can also help you with information about other services that may assist you to remain independent and connected to the local community.
It is free to join and you will be sent quarterly newsletters with advice and news about subjects that may affect you and activities that may interest you.
